Gluten Free Orange Chicken

One recipe my husband loves and hasn’t had in a long time, that fried sweet orange chicken. So I decided it couldn’t be too complicated and this is what I did. It was amazing, and plates were cleaned!

1 cup Gluten Free All-Purpose Flour

1 tsp Sea Salt

1/4 tsp ground pepper

3 tbsp Natural Grapeseed Oil

1 tsp baking soda

6 boneless, skinless cut into chunks

1 tbsp Wildtree Bacon Oil or Coconut Oil

2 garlic cloves, pressed

2 green onions, sliced

1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds

1 organic Orange, zested then pressed

1/2 Lemon, pressed

1 tbsp Ginger, pressed

1 clove Garlic, pressed

3 Tbsp Tamari Soy Sauce

1/4 C Honey

2 Tbsp Green Onion, sliced

1/4 tsp Red Pepper Flakes

3 Tbsp Arrowroot

2 Tbsp Water

  1. Mix all the batter ingredients together, and let sit for 10 minutes. Add chicken chunks to batter.
  2. In a wok or Stir Fry Skillet, heat oil. Add garlic, green onions and sesame seeds. Add chicken, cook through and remove from pan. Place on paper towels to drain oil.
  3. Add orange zest, fresh orange juice, fresh lemon juice, pressed ginger and garlic, tamari, honey, green onion and red pepper flakes to wok. Simmer.
  4. Mix arrowroot and water until mixed thoroughly. Add mixture to sauce and continue to simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Add cooked chicken back to pan and coat with sauce. Serve with favorite veggies and brown rice. Sprinkle with toasted seasame seeds, green onion and orange slices.
