Dirty Details of Cancer

I can-cer vive

I took this picture on our 7th wedding anniversary, which was our golden wedding anniversary. We were married 7-7-07.  It was the first trip in 4 years, not including going to Houston for treatment. Susan G Komen had sent us to the Lake of the Ozarks and we stayed at Camden on the Lake. It was right after the 4th of July, and it was in the middle of the week, so the lake was peaceful and quiet. The Ozarks is Shawn’s favorite place, he misses it quite a bit because he grew up with a house on the lake.

We weren’t sure what the future would hold as we sat outside watching the sunset. Talking about all the insane crap we had been through, and how we couldn’t believe everything that had happened. Then, yesterday I found this picture and I realized I have can-cervived this long! I will win! I have Shawn to thank over and over again for keeping me positive. He has been battling cancer right here with me, and he fights when I can’t fight anymore. Shawn has made this fight so much easier to fight. We have been fighting together for 6 years now and I know we will win this because he has kept me going all this time. He calls me a badass, but he is the badass. I would not have made it this far without his love and support.
